Take off for a flying experience in a vintage de Havilland Tiger Moth plane, where you will learn to fly yourself and the pilot over the stunning English countryside from the open cockpit of this beautiful biplane. Why not take a leisurely tour along the majestic Thames, or fly serenely over the architectural wonders of Oxford or the stunning Highclere Castle, home to Downton Abbey?
Flying in this vintage 1933 RAF trainer is a truly awesome feeling. Your lesson will start with a briefing from the Instructor about the flying controls, safety procedures, basic flying physics and how to communicate with each other. You will then be guided to the aircraft strapped in ready for flight. Once in the plane, you will be given an explanation of the cockpit instruments. The whole lesson will take approximately one and a half hours.
There will be lots of photo opportunities so don't forget to bring your camera and you can treasure the pictures of you wearing the Irvin flying jacket, helmet and goggles! There is no special clothing required but remember you will be spending time on an open airfield so dress to suit the weather on the day. It is worth noting that flights in the Tiger Moth, with its open cockpit, are typically available from April to October, during the warmer months.
