What are the best things to do in the UK in early autumn?

There are some fabulous events taking place over late summer and early autumn and if you are planning a visit, there really is something to meet everyone’s tastes.

Food and fashion feature prominently during September with wonderful food festivals at the Tower of London and in Broadway, and Daylesford offering the blueprint to preparing and cooking the perfect dinner party. Designers and magazine editors will be flocking to London in September for London Fashion Week.

Car lovers also have a plethora of treats from which to choose – the magnificent Blenheim palace hosts the Salon Privee at the beginning of September at which you will be able to admire some of the most beautiful cars in the world. Similarly the Concours of Elegance can be found at Hampton Court palace. The incomparable Goodwood Revival takes place in mid September – racing cars and fifties fashion with the backdrop of the beautiful Goodwood House combine to make a truly memorable occasion.

This is the time of year when winter and summer sporting prowess overlap, and we are treated to some real excitement. From cricket at Lords and sailing at Cowes to the launch of the rugby and football seasons, there's a wonderful choice of sport.

And the end of September sees the start of the Literary Festival season, which is an absolute joy. You have the chance to sit and listen to some of your favourite authors talk about their literary creations. Hay on Wye is probably the most famous of all and our other favourites are in Cheltenham and obviously here in Henley-on-Thames. Cliveden House also hosts a wonderful weekend of literary treats at the end of September.

From food and fashion to sport and supercars, you have so much to choose from and we’ll be delighted to help you choose if you need any help.
