The late Sir Paul & Lady Getty embarked on a significant renovation of the Estate, bringing the House & Walled Gardens back to life, creating the lake in the deer park, establishing the world-renowned Cricket Ground (and the Sir Paul Getty XI), developing one of the most respected shoots in the UK and building The Library, which houses one of the finest private collections of books & manuscripts in the country.
Since 2011, the Estate has also been home to Garsington Opera, in the stunning 600-seat Opera Pavilion. In 2014 the same architect, Robin Snell, also created The Island Pavilion, which houses some of the Getty family’s sculpture collection and provides the perfect location for small gatherings and private dining experiences. In 2016, the architect was also commissioned to design The Boundary Room, overlooking the Cricket Ground, which is the perfect spot for a summer luncheon.
Choosing a day in the country at the Wormsley Estate enables you to experience the best of English sporting, cultural and literary heritage.
