The late Sir Paul & Lady Getty embarked on a significant renovation of the Estate, bringing the House & Walled Gardens back to life, creating the
lake in the deer park, establishing the world-renowned Cricket Ground (and the Sir Paul Getty XI), developing one of the most respected shoots in the
UK and building The Library, which houses one of the finest private collections of books & manuscripts in the country.
Since 2011, the Estate has also been home to Garsington Opera, in the stunning 600-seat Opera Pavilion. In 2014 the same architect, Robin Snell, also created
The Island Pavilion, which houses some of the Getty family’s sculpture collection and provides the perfect location for small gatherings and private
dining experiences. In 2016, the architect was also commissioned to design The Boundary Room, overlooking the Cricket Ground, which is the perfect
spot for a summer luncheon.
Since the in augural cricket match in May 1992, Wormsley has welcomed, by invitation, a variety of guests from some of the world's greatest cricketers
and opera performers to private individuals and families so that they may enjoy the wonderful curated experiences that Wormsley has to offer.
Choosing a day in the country at the Wormsley Estate enables you to experience the best of English sporting, cultural and literary heritage.
From a day watching some of the finest crickets battling it out, interrupted only by a delicious lunch and afternoon tea in the stunning Boundary Room to an extraordinary literary journey through The Library guided by the Getty librarian, you are invited to experience the best of the estate.
If you would like a little more privacy, the award winning Island Pavilion is the perfect venue for lunch or dinner as you survey the stunning vista offered
by the lake and deer park. The Walled Garden offers the most colourful and fragrant surroundings for a beautifully intimate afternoon tea after which
you can enjoy a quiet game of croquet or a private view of your chosen theatrical production or music in the enclosed green theatre.
