Blenheim Palace is one of the finest
examples of the splendour of aristocratic living in the UK and holds the legacy of the Battle of Blenheim.
The Palace and the grounds are truly magnificent. The Palace was built between 1705 and 1733 for John Churchill, the 1st Duke of Marlborough to celebrate his victory over the French in the Battle of Blenheim, a major battle of the War of the Spanish Succession, on 13th August 1704.
Over the past 300 years Blenheim Palace has been the home of the Dukes of Marlborough and is home today to the 12th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough and their family.
As well as a private home, the Estate has been used for a huge number of other purposes throughout our history, including a hospital for wounded soldiers during World War I and a home for evacuees in World War II. In 1950, the 10th Duke of Marlborough opened Blenheim Palace to the public for the first time.
We will create your exclusive tour with the Blenheim team to give you privileged access to usually unseen areas of the Palace with the very best guide.
You can enjoy a private tour of the beautiful Palace State Rooms and the Private Apartments, where the Duke of Marlborough and his family live. This rare treat is definitely one for the history buffs! Following this, you will be guided through the Churchill Exhibition and learn all about the amazing life of our 'Greatest Briton,' before taking lunch.
The Orangery Restaurant is your setting for an exquisite seasonal 3-course lunch, served by your own personal, dedicated waiter. You will be able to enjoy the peaceful ambience of the Orangery as you chat with your family and friends.
After lunch, your guide will lead you around the Formal Gardens to relax and fully take in the Blenheim Palace history. Don't miss the Pleasure Gardens, because there you will get a chance to experience the wonderful Butterfly House and the Walled Garden.
To round out the day we recommend visiting Woodstock, where Blenheim Palace is located, to enjoy a stroll through the market town and dine in one of the welcoming British pubs.
Loose yourself in the Christmas spirit as you explore The Palace in festive dress and learn how a traditional Blenheim Palace Christmas is celebrated. Outside in the festive gardens you will find the spectacular Illuminated Lights Trail - bright lights for winter nights!
Wrap up warm and walk through breath-taking light displays with your family and friends, with new surprises along the Trail this year from the Heart of
the Stars scattering shards of light across the lawn to a scented fire garden that adorns the Water Terrace. Walk towards dynamic, colour-changing
neon tunnels, lakeside reflections and onto a mesmerising place where, beneath the branches of a sprawling tree softly glows the fairy-fire, Will-o-the-Wisps.
Find the perfect outdoor Christmas experience at Blenheim Palace!
